luang prabang, ancient capital city of many kingdoms, glows with comfortable laotians and nice french colonial architecture. it's an easy city to be a tourist in, and we've used it as our home base for the last week, from which to take excursions. the food here is so good we can hardly stop ourselves from eating constantly - big leaves wrapped around tasty eggplant mix, springrolls with perfect peanut sauce, and coconut pudding everywhere! this city is known for having many temples, and it's fun just to walk or bike around and look at them all - hilltop temples, forest meditation temples, and urban temples. it's hardly possible to walk for one minute without seeing a monk in his bright orange getup.






















we went to a waterfall today that ran right through a forest - trees in the middle and everything! i've never seen anything like it before - so beautiful and strange!
